The Backyard
After Haiti's massive earthquake in 2010, I spent some time documenting life in the communities in Northern Haiti that had received a surge of displaced people looking for homes and a new beginning. Built amid swampy, low-lying coastal areas, the lower-income neighborhood of Gris Gris was a major destination for such people in the city of Port-de-Paix.
